Former St Helens centre Ben Davies has insisted that there is still plenty more that Oldham fans can expect from him ahead of his second season with the club.<\/p>\n

Davies joined the Roughyeds midway through the 2025 season<\/a> and he now enters his first pre-season at the club ahead of the upcoming 2026 Championship season, where Oldham will surely be among the favourites for silverware.<\/p>\n

In their first season back in the Championship, they finished fourth before losing to a Halifax Panthers side in the play-offs who were inspired by the performance of St Helens\u2019 youngster George Whitby<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, former St Helens man Davies is out to make his own mark on the Championship, speaking to club media about his 17 appearances so far and what else can be expected from him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I wanted to do here was play every week and I got that chance,\u201d Davies explained when speaking to club media<\/a>, with the 25-year-old having struggled for consistent game time whilst at St Helens, playing just 41 times over the course of five years.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have seen sparks\u201d \u2013 Ex-St Helens man eager to impress in second season at Oldham<\/p>\n

Oldham have built a squad well worthy of challenging for Super League with Davies among those stars set to shine in 2026 and he\u2019s now told fans that they can expect more to come from him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have seen sparks of what I can do, I just want more of that now,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best of me is still to come. I am always going to strive to be a better player and a better team-mate on and off the pitch so hopefully I can bring some more sparks.\u201d<\/p>\n

He bagged five tries during his 17 appearances for the Roughyeds last year but Davies\u2019 and Oldham\u2019s season ended courtesy of a George Whitby masterclass when Halifax beat them 40-4 in the play-offs.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on that, the centre said: \u201cOn the day Halifax were good and we were poor and didn\u2019t handle it right. We wanted to keep playing and show who we were as a team so it stings a little bit, but that is what this time of the year is for \u2013 to get that sting out.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to take the lessons and learnings from the year and bring it into this new fresh start. We need to take the good and leave the bad in the past. There should be the same excitement from the players, the fans and everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oldham will learn their Championship opponents for 2026 on Tuesday, December 2nd when the fixtures for the expanded competition are confirmed<\/a>.<\/p>\n
