Another all-Super League pre-season game has been confirmed with York Knights the opponents for one forward\u2019s testimonial match.<\/p>\n

The Knights will travel to the Accu Stadium on Saturday, 17th January to take on Huddersfield Giants<\/a> in the testimonial match for forward Matty English.<\/p>\n

Huddersfield have confirmed that the game will be the first of their pre-season matches with the Giants set to play Hull FC a week later in Brad Fash\u2019s testimonial game.<\/p>\n

English, who turned 28 last month, has spent all of his career with Huddersfield Giants after coming through their academy system and then debuting in 2017 in the Challenge Cup.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s gone on to make 147 appearances for the Giants whilst also picking up four whilst on loan at Castleford Tigers in 2024 and a handful at Dewsbury Rams earlier in his career.<\/p>\n

News that English had been awarded a testimonial year came back in September with the Rugby Football League awarding it for ten years of service at one club, with 2026 being his tenth season with the Giants.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the time of that announcement, English said: \u201cI\u2019m extremely grateful for the opportunity to have a testimonial. To play 10+ years at the Giants, I was over the moon so I\u2019m really looking forward to next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s making me feel old now, I\u2019ve made some lifelong friends and hopefully there will be many more years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

The keystone part of a testimonial year is the testimonial game and that\u2019s now locked in with newly-promoted side York Knights visiting the Accu Stadium on Saturday, 17th January.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the first pre-season game confirmed for Mark Applegarth\u2019s side with more expected to come in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

English\u2019s testimonial game was confirmed by the Giants, who announced: \u201cHuddersfield Giants will face York Knights at the Accu Stadium on Saturday 17th January, as we celebrate the career of Matty English.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Matty celebrates ten years in professional Rugby League at the Giants, the club where he made his name at, he will kick off his testimonial celebrations as we face York Knights in a friendly before we kick off the season.\u201d<\/p>\n
