Chris Eubank Jr has provided a very concerning update following his defeat to Conor Benn<\/p>\n
Chris Eubank Jr<\/a> is unsure when he will fight again after revealing he must first tackle his health issues.<\/p>\n The 36-year-old suffered a gruelling decision defeat to long-time rival Conor Benn<\/a> last month – seven months after initially getting his hand raised over the ‘Destroyer.’<\/a> Eubank Jr was beaten in a battle with the scales ahead of his first fight with Benn back in April and was fined \u00a3375,000<\/a>.<\/p>\n ‘Next Gen’ then spent two nights in hospital before finally being discharged after undergoing checks<\/a>. Eubank Jr admitted he suffered from severe dehydration in a desperate attempt to make the middleweight limit. It seems as if he struggled with the rematch after taking to social media with a rather worrying update.<\/p>\n In a video uploaded to X – formerly known as Twitter<\/a> – the Brighton scrapper was seen lying on a hospital bed surrounded by doctors with a number of wires and monitors. He captioned the post: \u201cI\u2019ve been dealing with a lot of health issues over the last year and yeah it all finally caught up to me last month.<\/p>\n Love fighting? Benn urged his foe to retire<\/a> following their 12 round sequel at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The son of legendary boxer Nigel Benn has urged Eubank Jr to focus on life after boxing<\/a> after the latter revealed heading into the fight that he will become a dad to two twin boys next year<\/a>. \u201cI can see him asking for a rematch, but ultimately I think we should let it lie now,” he said. “We’ve done what we said we would do, we’ve sold out a stadium twice so let’s call it a day.<\/p>\n “He’s got more important things to worry about than fighting. He’s won at life with his two boys and if I was him I would look at his reasons for boxing. Ultimately he will be a dad of two and that’s always a priority. It’s not down to me to say whether he should retire but he has bigger things in life now.”<\/p>\n Eubank Jr was certainly a shell of his former self in the rematch after he landed 300 fewer punches on Benn<\/a> in their sequel compared with their first fight. ‘Next Gen’ claimed to have been “to hell and back” ahead of his defeat to the ‘Destroyer.’ \u201cI\u2019ve been through hell and back to make it here,\u201d he said. \u201cI genuinely thought that regardless of the issues that I have been dealing with, I would be able to go in there and win, use my boxing skills and use what I used in the first fight to beat Conor Benn. From that first round, I realised that I was mistaken, but it\u2019s OK. I\u2019m a fighter and this is what I do. Asked if he might retire, he added: \u201cWe\u2019re not talking about that right now.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is not about me. This night is about Conor. He did what he needed to do to win and he fought a great fight. You guys saw what I was in there tonight. Yeah, I thought once those bright lights hit and that round went, that I\u2019d find something and I tried. I tried hard, but it wasn\u2019t there and Conor was strong, was fast and he was tough. Yeah, congratulations to him.\u201d<\/p>\n Chris Jr’s cousin Harlem believes the British star has nothing left to prove<\/a> and is capable of finding success outside of the ring. “I think there is a lot that he can do. He has been one of the most entertaining figures in British boxing in recent times. There is a lot that he can go into. There is a lot he can choose to do,” he told Mirror<\/a> Fighting.<\/p>\n “Whatever he wants to do really. At the end of the day, as a fighter, you can never really be told when is the right time to get into something else. It will be completely up to him, but I feel like he has got nothing left to prove in the sport. He has achieved a lot. He has been an integral part of the entertainment value of those two great fights that have kind of spearheaded British boxing back to the forefront. As Sr said he is a legend. He has won the hearts of the people.
