Quentin Tarantino<\/a> has well and truly laid into War & Peace actor Paul Dano<\/a>, calling him weak, uninteresting, and a \u2018giant flaw\u2019 in one of the director\u2019s favourite films of the 21st century. Ouch.<\/p>\n The Pulp Fiction<\/a> director, 62, was tasked with listing his five favourite films of the last 25 years, and while he\u2019d love to give 2007 epic period drama<\/a> There Will Be Blood the top spot, he simply can\u2019t. The reason? Little Miss Sunshine actor Paul. <\/p>\n While explaining his list, ranking Paul Anderson\u2019s<\/a> film as fifth, Quentin said: \u2018There Will Be Blood\u00a0would stand a better chance to be in number 1 or number 2 if it didn\u2019t have a big giant flaw in it, and the flaw is\u00a0Paul Dano<\/a>.\u2019 <\/p>\n According to Entertainment Now<\/a>, while speaking on the most recent episode of\u00a0The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast<\/a>, the Django Unchained director reflected that Paul, 41, couldn\u2019t match co-star Daniel Day-Lewis\u2019 performance.<\/p>\n \u2018Obviously, it\u2019s supposed to be a two-hander, and it\u2019s also so drastically obvious that it\u2019s not a two-hander,\u2019 he continued, before spouting more of his bizarre rant: \u2018He is weak sauce, man. He\u2019s a weak sister.\u2019 <\/p>\n Quentin also noted he thinks \u2018another terrific actor\u2019 could have lifted the role, explaining: \u2018Austin Butler<\/a> would have been wonderful in that role. [Dano] is just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t Movie buffs have taken to Reddit<\/a> to criticise the famed director for his \u2018classless\u2019 rant about the actor, who is known for roles in movies including Prisoners, 12 Years a Slave, and The Fabelmans.<\/p>\n \u2018This was an incredibly classless thing for Tarantino to say,\u2019 said superdouradas, explaining that actor Paul made them \u2018hate\u2019 his character in the noughties film.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tWhat are your thoughts on Paul Dano’s performance in There Will Be Blood? <\/p>\n I agree with Quentin – weak sauceCheck<\/p>\n \u2018When an actor manages that, it usually means they\u2019re doing a damn good job,\u2019 they continued, concluding: \u2018Today I lost a lot of respect for Tarantino.\u2019<\/p>\n Others weighed in, with WelbyReddit calling Quentin\u2019s take \u2018weird\u2019 as many also pointed out that the director often \u2018sticks out\u2019 like a sore thumb when in front of the camera himself.<\/p>\n \u2018This is an insane take,\u2019 said MagiciansAlliance, while Superb-Mall3805 said: \u2018There must be some weird behind-the-scenes grudge, here. As a side note Tarantino legitimately is the weakest actor I\u2019ve ever seen, so maybe he\u2019s trying to pass that title to someone else.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t Many pointed out that Paul, who played the dual role of twin brothers Eli (a large role) and Paul Sunday (who appeared in one scene) in the epic, was only drafted in for the part last minute. <\/p>\n Writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s first choice for Eli was Kel O\u2019Neill, but halfway through the two-month shoot the director reportedly decided it wasn\u2019t working out. <\/p>\n Paul then took up the major role of Eli in addition to his one scene, with only a few days to prepare, tasked with acting alongside notorious method actor Day-Lewis, who won an Oscar for his performance. <\/p>\n Speaking to IndieWire about the role in 2013, Paul reflected: \u2018On There Will Be Blood I was cast at the last minute. I had 3 1\/2 to 4 days to get ready for the first day. <\/p>\n \u2018I just went for it, threw myself in there and gave it everything I had. That was just guts and instinct, not a lot of preparation.
