Zach Cregger<\/a>\u2019s DC<\/a> movie could wind up happening.<\/p>\n

Cregger made his feature film directorial debut as a solo director in 2022 with Barbarian. Prior to that, he co-directed 2009\u2019s Miss March and 2011\u2019s The Civil War on Drugs with Trevor Moore, who passed away in 2021. After Barbarian, Cregger produced 2025\u2019s Companion before his next movie, Weapons<\/a>, was released in United States theaters this past August.<\/p>\n

Cregger has previously discussed wanting to make a DC Studios<\/a> movie that he has referred to as his \u201cfavorite thing\u201d that he\u2019s ever written. There\u2019s been no announcement at DC, which is run by James Gunn and Peter Safran, about this movie being made at this point in time.<\/p>\n

What is the latest update on Zach Cregger\u2019s DC movie?<\/p>\n

According to a recent report from Puck<\/a>, the future of Cregger\u2019s DC movie may be dependent on the potential Paramount Skydance<\/a> and Warner Bros. Discovery<\/a> merger. Paramount Pictures<\/a>\u2019 David Ellison is reportedly very interested in making Cregger\u2019s DC film, so much so that Paramount<\/a> co-chair Josh Greenstein recently visited Prague to try and \u201ccourt\u201d Cregger.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m told Cregger discussed with Greenstein his desire to write and direct a movie set in a particular corner of the DC universe (which character or characters are involved is unclear), and Greenstein said he would be more than happy to make that happen, if possible,\u201d the article notes.<\/p>\n

There were previously reports<\/a> that Cregger\u2019s movie, titled Henchmen<\/a>, would follow a low-level henchman in Gotham City who incapacitates Batman through a \u201cstroke of luck.\u201d After this, he begins to gain notoriety in Gotham\u2019s crime underworld. Joker and Harley Quinn were also reported to appear in the film.<\/p>\n

Cregger, however, said the matter had been \u201cblown out of proportion online\u201d when appearing on Double Toasted<\/a>. He explained, \u201cSo, yeah, I wrote Henchmen, which is a story that takes place in the DC Universe, like years before I wrote Barbarian, and I really love it. But it\u2019s not a Joker and Harley script. I\u2019ve seen that online. And, no, I haven\u2019t talked to James Gunn about it.
