HMD recently unveiled a trio of super basic 4G phones and now there\u2019s a new trio. Well, the design is certainly new, the features have actually been cut down even further.<\/p>\n

CEO Jean-Francois Baril posted on LinkedIn that the company is introducing three new models \u2013 the HMD 100, 101 and 102. As we said, these do look different from the HMD 102 4G<\/a> and HMD 101 4G<\/a> that were announced in September.<\/p>\n

The most capable of the trio, the HMD 102, features an MP3 player and a camera with LED flash. The HMD 101 drops the camera, while the HMD 100 even seems to drop the MP3 player (presumably, this means no microSD slot as these have basically no internal storage).<\/p>\n

Interestingly, there\u2019s no mention of \u201c4G\u201d, which is indeed a major feature for these \u2013 if only for the fact that many countries are shutting down their 2G and 3G networks. Another limiting factor is that these models (according to their user guides) have microUSB ports, which are no longer legal in regions like the EU, which mandates USB-C for portable electronics.<\/p>\n

HMD 100 and HMD 101<\/p>\n

Of course, HMD has the very similar 4G models to sell in those regions. And they are dual-SIM too, so you can have two active phone lines. Plus, they have USB-C ports.<\/p>\n

User guides are up on HMD India and indeed there are separate pages for the HMD 101<\/a> and HMD 101 4G<\/a> (carriers in India do still run 2G networks).<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget that there are also the HMD 105 4G<\/a> and HMD 110 4G<\/a> if 4G is a must.<\/p>\n
