Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> has hit out at the backlash she has received for the sexual lyrics and innuendos on her latest album.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with Variety<\/a>, the star reflected on the success of 2025, which saw her release her latest studio offering, Man\u2019s Best Friend. The album was the centre of much controversy before it was released due to the cover photo, which saw Carpenter on her hands and knees, while a faceless man pulled at her hair.<\/p>\n

Additionally, much of the lyricism on the new album consists of double entendres, such as the hit \u2018Tears\u2019, on which Carpenter sings, \u201cI get wet at the thought of you \/ Being a responsible guy \/ Treating me like you\u2019re supposed to do \/ Tears run down my thighs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reacting to the backlash, the \u2018Manchild\u2019 singer told Variety: \u201cI think it wouldn\u2019t matter so much if I wasn\u2019t a childhood figure for some people.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cBut I also can\u2019t really help that. It\u2019s not my fault that I got a job when I was 12 and you won\u2019t let me evolve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her childhood, she also shared, \u201cI always thought, \u2018When I grow up, then I get to embrace my sexuality more. I don\u2019t even know what that means yet!\u2019 I don\u2019t think they do. I wish I\u2019d had more open conversations about all of it when I was younger, but people feel too scared to talk about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing unapologetically, Carpenter seemed unfazed at the stresses of such a one-sided parasocial connection. She said, \u201cI\u2019m just actually living my life, and you\u2019re watching. If you don\u2019t like it, it\u2019s not for you. If you do like it, let\u2019s play.\u201d <\/p>\n

Recently, Carpenter hit out at the White House\u2019s use of her song \u2018Juno\u2019 to soundtrack<\/a> a social media video of ICE agents. She wrote on X that the video was \u201cevil and disgusting\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
