Everything you need to know about Dove House Hospice – Hull LiveHull hospice running for over 40 years has launched a Christmas fundraising appeal\"DoveDove House Hospice in Chamberlain Road, Hull(Image: Peter Harbour)Everything you need to know about Dove House HospiceWhile it is based in Hull, Dove House Hospice<\/a> serves the whole of the East Riding of Yorkshire region. For over 40 years it has provided specialist personalised care for adults living with a life-limiting diagnosis and those approaching the very end of their lives.This care is given either in its inpatient unit or across its outpatient clinics and groups. Dove House remains a core part of local healthcare and provides a vital service to patients and their families.Dove House Hospice services include an inpatient unit for pain and symptom management, respite and end-of-life care; outpatient clinics, with doctors, specialist nurses and therapists, and therapies, including complementary therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. Family support is provided for loved ones and carers, as the hospice looks after the patient\u2019s emotional needs.Bereavement care is available for families using its services, and the wider community. There are Children\u2019s Bereavement Groups and a Welcome Wednesday Bereavement Caf\u00e9.Community groups, such as Friday Friends, reach out to the community and open the doors of Dove House to those who need social support. Dove House Hospice receives only 10 per cent funding from the Government with the remainder raised through the support of the community.The hospice has a network of 34 charity shops across the region; it organises and supports many fundraising events and activities and runs a lottery to raise the money needed to fund vital services for local families.
