O\u2019Neill will hand over the reins and Nancy is determined to maintain the momentum.<\/p>\n
The new gaffer said: \u201cI am so happy to be named Celtic manager, it is a massive honour for myself and my family.<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore I say anything else I want to do one thing \u2013 I want to thank the great Martin O\u2019Neill and Shaun Maloney for all they have done in recent weeks with the team. The job they have done has been fantastic.<\/p>\n
“These guys have given so much to the club across so many years and I know our fans, like me, all recognise the brilliant job they have done during this recent period.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Neill addressed Celtic Park on the pitch after full-time with supporters saluting the club legend.<\/p>\n
And he admitted it\u2019s been a six-week thrill ride since stepping up in the wake of Brendan Rodgers\u2019s departure as he hauled in Hearts\u2019 eight point lead at the top, fired Celts to the League Cup Final and back into the hunt in the Europa League.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cThat’s been brilliant (to reel in Hearts). I must admit, even to cut the gap at all during the time would have been decent. But to bring it right back, that was fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nancy is set to take training today \u2013 but O\u2019Neill will be on hand to help with any handover.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI’m sure that he will have been watching the matches in the last three or four games. He’ll form his own opinion of the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is absolutely fine. And if he seriously wants to speak to me about my thoughts in the last five or six weeks, whatever that may be, I’ve got absolutely no problem.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut he may not. He’ll maybe have a totally different approach tactically, in every aspect of me, I genuinely don’t know.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I think I’ve left the players in good heart, with a bit of confidence about themselves now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dundee boss Steven Pressley hailed his side for giving Celts a nervy night.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cYou have to be perfect when you come to Parkhead. We were not quite perfect but we were very good.
