\n The Hollywood star, who played Hermione Granger in all eight Harry Potter movies, grew up in the city after being born in Paris.\n<\/p>\n

\n Having taken an indefinite leave from acting in recent years, she has instead been focused on pursuing her academic goals.\n<\/p>\n

\n Ms Watson opted to study a master\u2019s degree in creative writing in September 2023, before it was announced in February that she had switched to a DPhil.\n<\/p>\n

\n It was revealed that during her studies, the 35-year-old had written a play about herself and handed it in at university as her final project, for which she earned a distinction.\n<\/p>\n

\n Speaking about the subject to Jay Shetty on his On Time podcast, she opened up about being a “super famous person” at Oxford University.\n<\/p>\n

\n Mr Shetty said: “Emma wrote a play which helped her closest friends and family understand her experience of life basically. Is that a bad description?”\n<\/p>\n

\n Ms Watson replied: “No, no, it’s not a bad description.\n<\/p>\n

\n “But like specifically, I wrote the play about me transitioning from basically being a full-time actress, an activist to trying to move home and like be a normal student and attend a normal university as a super famous person.\n<\/p>\n

\n “And I basically kept a journal of what those experiences were like and chronicled them for my friends and family for about a year, and then performed it as a one-woman show at the end of the first year and handed that in as my first year piece of work and yeah. Yeah.”\n<\/p>\n

\n Mr Shetty then asked: “Did it get an A?”\n<\/p>\n

\n “It got a distinction, it actually did,” Ms Watson responded.\n<\/p>\n

\n “Not that that was the point, but it kind of wasn’t the point, but I think the coolest thing was like I read it for my roommate, for example, who’s been living with me for 7 years, and he was like, ‘Wait, wait, stop, stop, stop, stop’.\n<\/p>\n

\n “He’s like, ‘Is this actually how you feel? Like, do you actually feel this?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I wouldn’t have written it if I didn’t’.\n<\/p>\n

\n “And he was like, ‘I had no idea that this was how you felt’, and this is someone I live with.\n<\/p>\n

\n “And so for me, who I perceive myself to be, this like massive open book, and actually I realised, I was like wow, I think I’m doing a good job of bringing the people that I love along with me on what this feels like and actually I’m not saying nearly enough or explaining it in a way where it makes sense.\n<\/p>\n

\n “And so even my parents were just like- couldn’t believe it really.”\n<\/p>\n
