Manchester United are remaining within touching distance of European qualification during Ruben Amorim\u2019s first full season.<\/p>\n

The upcoming Premier League clash against West Ham<\/a> will give Manchester United the chance to climb up to fifth in the table.<\/p>\n

It is a major upgrade on the 15th-place finish achieved by Ruben Amorim<\/a> in his first season in charge.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the 2025\/26 season, reports claimed that Ineos want Amorim to finish in the top six<\/a>, and currently he is on track to achieve it.<\/p>\n

A return to European football will be the priority, but Amorim was asked whether dreaming of Champions League football is a realistic target this season.<\/p>\n

Just last month, United were given a 6% chance of qualifying for the Champions League<\/a> this season.<\/p>\n

But the Red Devils are certainly in the race, especially if they can capitalise on a favourable run of fixtures.<\/p>\n

Speaking in his pre-match press conference<\/a>, Amorim said: \u201cIf the table is there, if you have the opportunity, one game per week, you need to go for it. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut then you look at the table and everyone is like two points behind, one week, everything can change.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the best way of doing things, especially with our team, is to focus just on the next game. If we win the next game, we\u2019ll maintain the position, at least. <\/p>\n

\u201cTo go in the position of Champions League for next week? Yes, it\u2019s realistic. The future? I don\u2019t know. So, I just want to say I want to continue near that position next week and then the rest, we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ruben Amorim refuses to get carried away at Man United<\/p>\n

Amorim has been accused of being overly honest and transparent <\/a>during his first year at United, and he has been the first to admit it has been a huge learning curve.<\/p>\n

The defeats to Grimsby and Everton this season have left Amorim scratching his head at United\u2019s baffling inconsistency and complacency problems.<\/p>\n

As a result, Amorim refuses to get carried away or look too much into the future. The Premier League table is incredibly tight and a three-game run can change everything at this stage.<\/p>\n

While fans can afford to look ahead at favourable fixtures and start dreaming of climbing the table, it\u2019s Amorim\u2019s job to keep him and his players grounded and fully focused.<\/p>\n

European qualification will be the target, but ultimately, Amorim is focused on winning the next game.<\/p>\n
