Keep calm and carry on \u2014 look ahead pragmatically, move on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Steinmeier and his wife, Elke B\u00fcdenbender, thanked Britain&#8217;s King Charles III and Queen Camilla for hosting an &#8220;unbelievable&#8221; state banquet at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n<p>The royals had welcomed the couple for a three-day state visit and staged a white-tie dinner in their honor on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><img data-format=\"MASTER_LANDSCAPE\" data-id=\"75017660\" data-url=\"https:\/\/static.dw.com\/image\/75017660_${formatId}.jpg\" data-aspect-ratio=\"16\/9\" alt=\"Britain's King Charles III, right, delivers a speech next to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier\" style=\"padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; max-height: 0;\"\/>Britain&#8217;s King Charles III, right, delivering his dinner speech next to the German president Image: Yui Mok\/AP Photo\/picture alliance<\/p>\n<p>As the two couples posed for a farewell photo, Steinmeier turned to the king and said: &#8220;You were so generous, inviting us, the staying of the night \u2014 we had a good breakfast and a wonderful banquet yesterday.&#8221; B\u00fcdenbender added: &#8220;It was really so wonderful \u2014 unbelievable,&#8221; and Steinmeier said: &#8220;We will never forget it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The banquet, held in St. George&#8217;s Hall, gathered leading German figures in business, culture and sport. Guests included\u00a0Claudia Schiffer, Matthew Vaughn, Hans Zimmer and &#8220;Strictly Come Dancing&#8221; judge Motsi Mabuse.
