One of the most intriguing potential matchups of 2026 is Teofimo Lopez<\/a> vs Shakur Stevenson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two 28-year-olds could meet in the first quarter of next year, with Madison Square Garden in New York already being mentioned as a likely venue for the world title fight.<\/p>\n

Lopez would be making the fourth defence of his WBO super-lightweight belt, while Stevenson would be moving up in weight in pursuit of becoming a four-division world champion.<\/p>\n

Despite the star power on both sides, some believe their contrasting styles may not blend well, potentially producing a cautious, tactical affair.<\/p>\n

Ryan Garcia, another of the sport\u2019s major attractions, recently announced he will challenge WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios on February 21<\/a>. During a live chat on X, the 27-year-old was asked for his view on Lopez-Stevenson and gave a clear verdict.<\/p>\n

\u201cShakur [will win]. Just because Teofimo likes to fight people he can counter. With Shakur he has to chase him. It\u2019s not a good style matchup for Teofimo. If Teofimo finds a way then kudos to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t see Teofimo being that aggressive. He\u2019s not very aggressive. He\u2019s more of a natural counter-puncher but not an aggressive fighter, but he\u2019ll go get you if he has to.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stevenson produced a career-best performance last time out<\/a>, dismantling relentless Mexican contender William Zepeda. Lopez, meanwhile, looked a level above Arnold Barboza in the third defence of his title.<\/p>\n
