Following the announcement at I\/O 2025 in May<\/a>, Google Wallet is letting users set up nearby pass notifications.<\/p>\n In recent weeks, we\u2019ve seen Google Wallet send out notifications to \u201cCheck in to your flight.\u201d The alert notes where your upcoming trip is and the airline, with Wallet presumably tapping the confirmation email in Gmail.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, opening a pass \u2014 like added boarding passes \u2014 sees Google Wallet prompt you to \u201cSet up nearby notifications.\u201d In this example, it\u2019s to \u201cGet notified when you\u2019re near the airport.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n More broadly, this is \u201cdesigned to provide timely and relevant information by alerting users about pertinent passes\u201d when they\u2019re near a designated location. This can apply to loyalty cards, offers, boarding passes, and event tickets. A single tap opens the pass for easy scanning.\u00a0<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n The \u201cSet up nearby notifications for all passes\u201d has you switch the location permission to \u201cAllow all the time.\u201d You might have already granted it to see a map<\/a> with your tap-to-pay transactions.\u00a0<\/p>\n Changing these settings will turn on other Wallet features like customized experiences.
