Scottie Scheffler just made his first driver switch in 2 years, putting TaylorMade\u2019s new\u00a0Qi4D driver in play at this week\u2019s Hero\u2019s World Challenge.<\/p>\n
The World Number One also put the new Qi4D fairway woods in the bag in Albany, and Scheffler\u2019s first round with the new clubs did not disappoint, with the American tied for the lead after round one having fired a round of 6-under par.<\/p>\n
Following his opening round, Scheffler commented on the performance of the driver on Thursday, saying:<\/p>\n
\u201cPretty good. I didn\u2019t see anything off the face that I didn\u2019t feel in my hands, so that\u2019s typically a pretty good thing for me with the driver,<\/p>\n
When I feel something, when I look up, I want to be able to \u2014 I want it to match so today I didn\u2019t see anything out of the ordinary, so that\u2019s a pretty good spot to be in.\u201d<\/p>\n
Scheffler\u2019s new driver features a blue colored face and before the event, the 29-year-old spoke in glowing terms about what he\u2019s seen from the new club, telling reporters in Albany:<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, for me so far this driver\u2019s been a really good fit for my eye, and that\u2019s always the first test for me. So far the performance has been good, my spin numbers have been really consistent, ball flight\u2019s been consistent, and looking forward to getting it in competition.\u201d<\/p>\n
Going into this year, I feel like Adrian (Rietveld) and the whole team at\u00a0TaylorMade\u00a0had a really good kind of idea of what my eyes needed to see in order for the driver to be able to work. We went through a lot of different kinds of options for what the face needed to be specifically for me and felt like we\u2019re in a good spot, and then the testing was a lot simpler this time around for sure.<\/p>\n
So last year I had a little bit of trouble getting into the Qi35, and I feel like we learned a lot throughout that process of what I like to see in a driver, the way it needs to perform for me specifically.\u201d<\/p>\n
Scheffler ranked T4 for driving accuracy and 4th for driving distance in round one at the Hero World Challenge.<\/p>\n
