{"id":301836,"date":"2025-12-06T12:12:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T12:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/301836\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T12:12:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T12:12:17","slug":"tadej-pogacars-stage-winning-colnago-v1rs-sells-for-190500","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/301836\/","title":{"rendered":"Tadej Poga\u010dar&#8217;s stage-winning Colnago V1Rs sells for $190,500"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The stripped-back Colnago Y1Rs that propelled Tadej Poga\u010dar to time-trial success on Stage 13 of this year&#8217;s Tour de France has sold for $190,500.<\/p>\n<p>We covered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/sothebys-colnago-auctions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">four iconic Colnago bikes<\/a> up for auction by Sotheby&#8217;s earlier this week, when Poga\u010dar&#8217;s bike had a bid of $16,000 and an estimate of $15,000 to $20,000.<\/p>\n<p>The bike is a lightened version of Colnago&#8217;s V1Rs that was specially made for the mountain time trials, with Poga\u010dar going on to ride the bike up Mont Ventoux in a record time to defend his yellow jersey against Jonas Vingegaard.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1070\" height=\"714\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1765023135_229_Colnago-Y1Rs-stripped-back.png\" alt=\"Colnago Y1Rs stripped back\" class=\"wp-image-951206\"\/>The bike comes with a rainbow-stripe livery. Sotheby&#8217;s <\/p>\n<p>This special-edition Y1Rs weighs just over 7kg, with a raw carbon finish helping with weight-saving and exposing the carbon weave below.<\/p>\n<p>Poga\u010dar&#8217;s continued use of the bike may have put the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/opinion\/climbing-bikes-are-dead\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">final nail in the coffin of dedicated climbing bikes<\/a> in UCI-regulated races, with the aerodynamic performance appearing to outweigh the small weight savings.<\/p>\n<p>The bike has been on display at St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi for the duration of the auction.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Colnago-Y1Rs-23.jpg\" alt=\"Female cyclist riding the Colnago Y1Rs aero road bike\" class=\"wp-image-934480\"\/>Colnago&#8217;s Y1Rs isn&#8217;t a cheap bike, regardless of history. Andy Lloyd \/ Our Media<\/p>\n<p>While $190,500 is a ludicrous amount of money for a Colnago Y1Rs, which retails for around \u00a311,999 \/ $14,500, it isn&#8217;t a record-breaking figure for a bicycle at auction.<\/p>\n<p>That honour belongs to a Damien Hirst-painted &#8220;Butterfly&#8221;  Trek Madone ridden by Lance Armstrong at the Tour de France and auctioned off for LiveStrong for $500,000.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1034\" height=\"690\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1765023137_9_Colnago-C35-Oro-Ferrari.png\" alt=\"Colnago C35 Oro Ferrari\" class=\"wp-image-951207\"\/>The C35 Oro Ferrari collaboration also beat its auction estimate.
