The ‘unofficial’ national anthem has just turned 24-years-old as Millenials<\/a> embrace the ultimate pop song of their generation. The world<\/a> of pop culture has many different strings, but one thing we can all agree on is that Gotta Get Thru This by Daniel Bedingfield<\/a> was the go-to song in the early noughties.<\/p>\n

As soon as it came on, nightclub dancefloors would pack out, that came with some extremely questionable dance moves too. Now it may make you feel old to know it came out over two decades ago, as it now turns 24-years-old. Pop music<\/a> comes in waves, but it feels as if we will never reach peak times like we did when Bedingfield released this banger.<\/p>\n

Fans on Reddit<\/a> have been marking the occasion by sharing their nostalgic memories of the song, as someone posted the anniversary to the r\/Fauxmoi<\/a> thread. The post said: “On this day 24 years ago, Daniel Bedingfield released \u201cGotta Get Thru This\u201d as a lead single from his debut studio album.”<\/p>\n

The replies flooded in, as one person chimed: “ALL RISE FOR THE UK\u2019s NATIONAL ANTHEM,” while a second echoed: “This is the national anthem of the UK.”<\/p>\n

A third said: “This song changed my life when it came out. I\u2019m American so I didn\u2019t hear it nearly often enough for my taste,” and a fourth penned: “I was 21 and in the club. This song is a part of my DNA.”<\/p>\n

Bedingfield wrote his smash hit single Gotta Get Thru This in his bedroom and it went to hit number one in the music charts. His album of the same name became one of the best-selling albums of the early 2000s (selling over 1.6m in the UK alone).<\/p>\n

It had six top 40 hits and three number one singles. Since his singing heyday, Daniel, who is the elder brother of Natasha Bedingfield, has kept a low profile, however he’s still a songwriter and has helped to pen hits for stars such as Pixie Lott. He even went on to be named Best Male at the 2004 Brit Awards, before releasing his second album Second First Impression the same year.<\/p>\n

His other number one singles include If You’re Not The One and Never Gonna Leave Your Side. Daniel’s other hits included James Dean, I Can’t Read You, Nothing Hurts Like Love and Wrap My Words Around You.<\/p>\n

Following his global success, Bedingfield, 44, made the decision to shun the showbiz lifestyle.<\/p>\n
