Pictures<\/p>\n<p>DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have addressed the future of their involvement and of DC Studios at Warner Bros. Pictures following Thursday night\u2019s news of Netflix entering final talks to acquire Warners.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-12-06\/netflix-has-huge-opportunity-with-dc-studios-superheroes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bloomberg<\/a> profile piece, the pair reveal that their contracts were originally for four years, ending in October 2026.  Now they\u2019ve revealed that those deals have been extended and are now due to expire in Spring 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who confirms in the piece he appointed the pair after reading Gunn\u2019s script for \u201cSuperman,\u201d had nothing but praise for the pair in the piece:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe work of James and Peter, their creative vision, it\u2019s compelling and a great economic return. There\u2019s no storytelling content that we have that provides a bigger palette than DC, and there\u2019s nobody around right now who can tell these stories with the same imagination and excitement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The piece also says the pair are not letting larger corporate goings-on alter their plans, and Gunn says theatrical releases are \u201cincredibly important\u201d for the studio\u2019s output: \u201cThe communal, theatrical experience is something that is incredibly important and remarkably well suited to our big spectacle films.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The next effort from the DC Universe is \u201cSupergirl\u201d with word this weekend that the first trailer for the movie is slated to debut online this coming Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Gunn also addressed the delays with the DCU\u2019s \u201cBatman: The Brave and the Bold\u201d film, saying it takes time because: \u201cIf you\u2019re gonna make a Batman movie, it better be f\u2014ing awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Warner Bros.
