A heartbroken Scots family are desperately fundraising to give their \u201cbright and funny\u201d 10-year-old daughter a final chance of survival after her cancer<\/a> became too aggressive for treatment in the UK.<\/p>\n

Little Sophia Wilson, from Sauchen, Aberdeenshire<\/a>, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) in July this year, a moment her devastated parents say \u201ccrumbled\u201d their world.<\/p>\n

Despite months of gruelling treatment, the youngster showed remarkable resilience and early signs of improvement \u2014 giving her family hope that she was winning her fight. But that hope was crushed last week when specialists told them Sophia\u2019s leukaemia<\/a> had become extremely aggressive.<\/p>\n

Her parents, Craig and Kim, say the schoolgirl\u2019s only chance of long-term survival is an umbilical stem cell transplant<\/a>. She was due to undergo the procedure just days ago, but doctors were forced to cancel it after discovering her cancer levels had risen too high for the transplant to go ahead safely.<\/p>\n

Mum Kim posted on Facebook<\/a>: “There are no words to express how devastated and terrified we are as parents. Sophia has a heart of gold, wants to be a farmer when she grows up.<\/p>\n

“She has shown a strength from day one of her diagnosis which I never thought possible and has had a smile on her face 99% of this most horrendous time. She deserves to go back to school, to be a farmer, to be a big sister and to live a life. We will do anything to try and make that happen.”<\/p>\n

The family say all available treatment options in the UK have now been exhausted, leaving them with one final hope \u2014 a specialised drug available only in America, which they believe could reduce her cancer to a level safe enough for the life-saving transplant to proceed.<\/p>\n

The treatment, along with travel, accommodation and medical costs, could total around \u00a3500,000.<\/p>\n

Launching a fundraising page<\/a>, her devastated parents wrote: \u201cThis transplant isn\u2019t just another treatment for Sophia \u2014 it is her only hope. For it to even be possible, her cancer must be reduced to a safe enough level. And tragically, all treatments here in the UK have now been exhausted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is one final glimmer of hope \u2014 a specialised drug available only in America. This treatment may be able to bring her cancer levels down enough for her to receive the life-saving transplant she urgently needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Describing their daughter as \u201cbright, creative, and animal-loving,\u201d they say every penny raised brings Sophia closer to the future she deserves: \u201cA chance to grow up. A chance to return to school. A chance to keep being the little girl she has always been.\u201d<\/p>\n

The appeal has already begun gathering support with over \u00a3130,000 raised in under 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Her parents added: \u201cWe are doing everything we can, but we cannot reach this alone. Your kindness means more than words can express. Please keep Sophia in your thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n
