{"id":304807,"date":"2025-12-08T10:08:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/304807\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T10:08:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:08:11","slug":"full-list-of-scots-trad-music-awards-2025-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/304807\/","title":{"rendered":"Full list of Scots Trad Music Awards 2025 winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The annual event recognised an array of artists, projects, and organisations for their &#8220;significant contributions to preserving and advancing Scotland&#8217;s rich cultural heritage&#8221; through music.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The awards came one week on from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/gaelic\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gaelic<\/a> and Scots being recognised as official languages of Scotland, and the night honoured musicians and creatives working to promote Scotland\u2019s indigenous music, culture and tongues.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Organisers said &#8220;tens of thousands of votes were cast&#8221; by the public to decide the 24 winners alongside a panel of judges from the list of more than 100 nominees.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25678487.meet-charlotte-wife-sir-walter-scott-actually-key-success\/?ref=ed_latest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Meet Charlotte, the wife of Sir Walter Scott, who was actually key to his success<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>  The Scots Trad Music Awards 2025 winners are:<\/p>\n<p>Album of the Year: araon by Sian<\/p>\n<p>  Citty Finlayson Scots Singer of the Year: Ellie Beaton<\/p>\n<p>  Club of the Year: North East Accordion and Fiddle Club<\/p>\n<p>  Community Project of the Year: The Royal National M\u00f2d<\/p>\n<p>  Composer of the Year: Findlay Napier<\/p>\n<p>  Event of the Year: BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of Year &#8211; 25th Anniversary<\/p>\n<p>  Folk Band of the Year: Blazin&#8217; Fiddles<\/p>\n<p>  Gaelic Singer of the Year : Kim Carnie<\/p>\n<p>  Industry Person of the Year: Donald Shaw<\/p>\n<p>  Live Act of the Yea: Skerryvore<\/p>\n<p>  Musician of the Year: Siobhan Miller<\/p>\n<p>  Music Tutor of the Year Award: Innes Watson<\/p>\n<p>  Original Work of the Year: The Great Herdsman of Etive by RURA<\/p>\n<p>  Scottish Dance Band of the Year: The Ceilidh Collective<\/p>\n<p>  Scottish Pipe Band of the Year: Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band<\/p>\n<p>  Up and Coming Artist of the Year: D\u00e0na<\/p>\n<p>  Venue of the Year: Park Bar, Glasgow<\/p>\n<p>  Services to Gaelic Award: Boyd Robertson<\/p>\n<p>  The Hamish Henderson Services to Traditional Music Award: David Francis<\/p>\n<p>  The Janet Paisley Services to Scots Language Award: Gerda Stevenson<\/p>\n<p>  Photographer of the Year: Magnus Graham<\/p>\n<p>  Recording Studio of the Year: Wee Studio, Stornoway<\/p>\n<p>  Record Producer of the Year: Rory Matheson<\/p>\n<p>  Trad Music in the Media: BBC Radio Scotland &#8211; Take the Floor<\/p>\n<p>\n  This year\u2019s Na Trads see Scottish band Skerryvore take home the Live Act of the Year award for the fourth time, rounding off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25206270.20-years-7000-fans-one-folk-family-skerryvores-castle-show\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">their 20th anniversary year<\/a>, while Glasgow institution the Park Bar won the Venue of the Year prize for the first time in its 130-year history.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The world\u2019s largest Gaelic festival, the Royal National M\u00f2d, was crowned Community Project of the Year for its work in bringing Gaelic communities across Scotland together in celebration of the language, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/celtic-fc\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Celtic<\/a> Connections\u2019 creative producer Donald Shaw was also honoured, having been named Industry Person of the Year for his work putting Scottish music on the world stage.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Skerryvore (Image: Scots Trad Music Awards)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  New inductees into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, sponsored by F\u00e8isean nan G\u00e0idheal, this year include former musician-in-residence at Sabhal M\u00f2r Ostaig Iain Macdonald, instrumentalist Andrew Rankine, Scots singer Elspeth Cowie, and more.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Scots Trad Music Awards organiser Simon Thoumire said: \u201cThe Scottish trad scene continues to raise its game \u2013 the creativity and calibre of talent on display is inspiring. The musicians, composers, singers, and arts workers we celebrate represent the beating heart of Scotland\u2019s cultural scene. In the face of AI and streaming, we continue to create. This is who we are \u2013 creators with original thoughts, with the power to imagine something from nothing and make it real.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWith the recent recognition of Gaelic and Scots as official languages of Scotland, we are witnessing a cultural renaissance that shows our traditions are not just surviving but thriving.
