Some films were totally shut out<\/p>\n

Wicked: For Good missing best musical might have been the
\nmost notable snub, but many other movies were shut out entirely.<\/p>\n

Missile thriller A House of Dynamite received zero
\nnominations, as did sports biopic Christy. <\/p>\n

But there were also some pleasant surprises<\/p>\n

Weapons star Amy Madigan pulled off a nomination in the
\nsupporting actress category – she has been a passion pick for many awards
\npundits in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

But a nomination in the best drama actress category for
\nSorry, Baby star Eva Victor was perhaps the biggest surprise of the day.<\/p>\n

One Battle After Another is the film to beat<\/p>\n

Some of the initial hype might have settled, but there’s no
\ndoubt that it’s the hot favourite as we begin the three-month extravaganza that
\nis awards season.<\/p>\n

However, early frontrunners often have a target on their
\nbacks, so we’ll have to wait and see if the film can maintain its momentum.<\/p>\n

Adolescence could be the UK’s biggest hope on the night<\/p>\n

But it was a weaker showing in the film categories, with
\nonly Cynthia Erivo and Emily Blunt representing the UK. <\/p>\n

The Globes still love A-list stars<\/p>\n

Even some actors whose Oscar chances have been looking
\nshaky, such as George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence, Dwayne Johnson and Julia
