\n\tStudiocanal<\/a> has unveiled a first look still of Cesar-winning French actor Le\u00efla Bekhti (\u201cOnce Upon My Mother\u201d) in \u201cViolette,\u201d <\/a>the next film by\u201dAmelie\u201d director Jean-Pierre Jeunet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe movie, which wrapped shooting on location in France in September, is an adaptation of Val\u00e9rie Perrin\u2019s literary sensation \u201cFresh Water for Flowers\u201d (\u201cChanger l\u2019eau des fleurs\u201d), which sold over 3 million copies worldwide. One of the French-language highlights of Studiocanal\u2019s 2026 slate, the movie also stars Matthias Schoenaerts (\u201cRust and Bone\u201d), Melvil Poupaud (\u201cJeanne du Barry\u201d), Anouk Grinberg (\u201cThe Innocent\u201d), Sergio Castellitto (\u201cConclave\u201d), Alban Lenoir (\u201cLost Bullet\u201d), as well as Elodie Batard Gaultier who is pictured above with Bekhti. <\/p>\n

\n\tBekhti (who\u2019s recently earned critical acclaim in France for her emotional performance in \u201cOnce Upon My Mother\u201d) plays Violette Toussaint, a cemetery caretaker in a small town in Burgundy, who a compassionate listener. \u201cHer peaceful life is filled by conversations with quirky cemetery workers and the many visitors who share their stories of love, loss, and life. However, her routine is disrupted when a local police chief arrives at her door with an unusual request. As they grow closer, Violette comes to understand that the truth behind long-buried mysteries in her past must be uncovered if she wants to take another chance on life and, against all odds, love,\u201d the synopsis reads. Jeunet co-wrote the script with Guillaume Laurant, whose credits include Jeunet\u2019s cult films, from \u201cAmelie\u201d to \u201cThe City of Lost Children\u201d and \u201cA Very Long Engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cViolette\u201d is produced by two Mediawan<\/a> labels \u2014 Carlo Degli Esposti and Nicola Serra at Palomar (\u201cPiranhas,\u201d \u201cThe Count of Monte Cristo\u201d), and Thibault Gast and Matthias Weber at 24 25 Films (\u201cBlack Box,\u201d \u201cKabul\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tStudiocanal is co-producing the film, handling international sales, and distributing it directly in key territories including France, the U.K., Benelux, Germany, Austria, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n
