The first trailer for Baz Luhrmann<\/a>\u2019s EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert<\/a> film has just dropped \u2013\u00a0check it out here.<\/p>\n

The film, which is set for release next year, features long-lost footage of the legendary singer<\/a>\u2019s Las Vegas residency alongside 16mm footage from the 1972 film Elvis on Tour and 8mm film from the Graceland archive.<\/p>\n

The trailer begins with Richard Strauss\u2019 \u2018Also sprach Zarathustra\u2019 and footage of Presley twirling his ring and tapping his foot before a show, before it reads, \u201cIn 1969, Elvis returned to the stage to begin a legendary residency in Las Vegas,\u201d interspersed with video. \u201cFor 40 years, there have been rumours of lost footage \u2026 It was found.\u201d<\/p>\n

Presley then says, \u201cThere\u2019s been a lot written and a lot said, but never from my side of the story,\u201d before he sings \u2018The Battle Hymn Of The Republic\u2019 over old concert footage. Watch the whole trailer here:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and will have its first advanced screenings at Graceland, Presley\u2019s former home, on January 8 \u2013\u00a0which would be his 91st birthday.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll then be exclusively released in IMAX theatres from February 20 before general release on February 27.<\/p>\n

Luhrmann first sought out unseen footage from Elvis On Tour and Elvis: That\u2019s The Way It Is with a view to using it in his 2022 biopic Elvis<\/a>. 68 boxes of 35mm and 8mm footage were found in the Warner Bros.<\/a> film archives in salt mines in Kansas, including unheard interviews, Presley\u2019s iconic 1957 performance in his gold jacket in Hawaii, and outtakes from both films.<\/p>\n

As the footage didn\u2019t have any sound, Luhrmann\u2019s team restored and synced it to existing audio sources. During the process, they also found a 45-minute audio recording of Presley talking about his life story.<\/p>\n

Discussing the film in January, Luhrmann told Deadline<\/a>, \u201c I wouldn\u2019t call it a documentary, or a concert film; our aim here is to make something new in the Elvis canon \u2026 to bring something to the screen that befits the magnitude of Elvis as a performer but also offers deeper revelations of his humanity and inner life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luhrmann\u2019s 2022 movie explored the life of Presley, played by Austin Butler<\/a>, with Tom Hanks<\/a> playing his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.<\/p>\n

It became a critical and commercial success, grossing over $288million worldwide and being named one of the best films of the year by the American Film Institute and receiving eight Oscar nominations<\/a>. In 2023, Luhrmann confirmed plans for a stage adaptation.<\/p>\n

NME gave Elvis a four-star review<\/a>, calling the movie \u201ca big-screen epic we can\u2019t help falling in love with\u201d and summarising: \u201cThe overwhelming feeling is of sadness, but strangely admiration too. Even at his lowest, Elvis\u2019 commitment to putting on a show for his fans was total.
