Samsung is one of the top foldable phone manufacturers, and the company has finally made a major leap with the launch of the Galaxy Z TriFold<\/a>. It’s a foldable phone<\/a> with two hinges and three display sections, which fold out to reveal a massive tablet-like display.<\/p>\n

It’s an impressive-looking phone, and even if it’s not the first tri-fold phone, it will likely make the most impact thanks to Samsung’s global reach. However, the device won’t be available everywhere, and it will likely cost a pretty penny. Even so, would you buy the Galaxy Z TriFold if you had the opportunity? The Galaxy Z TriFold<\/a> was rumored for a while, and it’s nice to see that Samsung is actually going ahead with the launch. The company already has a good track record with its foldables, particularly the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7<\/a>, and it appears Samsung is taking what it’s learned to deliver an impressively thin phone with impressive specs.<\/p>\n

It measures only 3.9mm at its thinnest point and 12.9mm when folded, making it less than a millimeter thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 6<\/a> and slightly thicker than its closest competitor, the Huawei Mate XTs<\/a>. It features a 6.5-inch AMOLED cover screen, but flip it around, and it opens to a 10-inch display that looks like a small tablet.<\/p>\n

In fact, while other large-screen foldables are often compared to tablets, this may be the closest thing to one given the wide, rectangular aspect ratio. This should improve the video-watching experience and possibly gaming, too, as there will likely be little or no letterboxing.<\/p>\n

Otherwise, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite<\/a> (not the newer 8 Elite Gen 5<\/a>) and 16GB of RAM, which should prove more than enough for most people. There’s also 512GB of storage as a base, or you can get 1TB.<\/p>\n

On the back is a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 3x telephoto lens. A 5,600mAh battery keeps the lights on with 45W charging, and the IP48 rating<\/a> should keep it well protected against freshwater and larger dust particles.<\/p>\n

What we don’t know, at least in North America, is when exactly it will arrive<\/a> and how much it will cost. It will launch first in Korea on December 12, but a U.S. launch won’t come until Q1 2026, meaning anywhere from January 1 to March 31.
