Steven Gerrard<\/a> has claimed parts of Mo Salah<\/a>\u2018s interview were \u201cwrong\u201d and suggested Virgil van Dijk<\/a> needs to intervene for the good of Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Nearly everyone has given their two cents on Salah\u2019s bombshell interview, but few people\u2019s words carry as much weight as those of Gerrard.<\/p>\n

The former Liverpool captain told TNT Sports<\/a>: \u201cHe\u2019s obviously really upset he\u2019s not playing, which I respect. He won\u2019t sit out of the team, which I respect. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe couple of lines about throwing people under the bus [is] wrong. He needs to reverse a little bit away from that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"LIVERPOOL,<\/p>\n

Gerrard here is referring to Salah saying<\/a>: \u201cIt seems like the club is throwing me under the bus.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Egyptian has since been left out of Liverpool\u2019s squad to play Inter and suggested the upcoming match against Brighton<\/a> could be his last for the Reds.<\/p>\n

Gerrard continued: \u201cHe needs to deal with that with the manager. This needs Virgil van Dijk<\/a> to go, \u2018How are we sorting this out for the benefit of not the club, or the team, but the fans?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen this and I\u2019ve lived it. I lived it with Suarez when he fell out with Brendan (Rodgers). I\u2019ve seen it all. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been there myself from a personal point of view. I did the Salah statement in 30 seconds against United when I got sent off, so no one\u2019s perfect. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve all had head losses as players. We\u2019ve all done emotional things and I know in time when this all calms, Mo will go, \u2018I shouldn\u2019t have said that, I maybe shouldn\u2019t have said that. I was a bit emotional, I was a bit hasty\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at the end of the day, Liverpool Football Club needs Mo Salah<\/a> back playing well, back scoring goals, because he is the best player, the best scorer and he will help them get out of this. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf this goes on, this is bigger than what we all know and what we see.\u201d<\/p>\n

What Virgil van Dijk has said about Mo Salah<\/p>\n

As captain, there is no doubt that Van Dijk carries influence in the Liverpool dressing room. <\/p>\n

He and Salah have played together for eight years now and is better-placed than any to try and mediate the situation. However, he doesn\u2019t feel it is necessarily his role.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019m the one to speak about if someone has to apologise for anything,\u201d Van Dijk told<\/a> Prime Video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s him airing his feelings over the last couple of days, and that\u2019s something that the club has to deal with, and obviously we as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe task was that we have responsibility, not only to ourselves, but to the whole football club and to all the fans in the world to perform.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the focus was there, nothing else.
