In a new cover story<\/a> with our 2025 Heavy Band of the Year Deafheaven<\/a>, frontman George Clarke teases that new music is coming sooner than fans might expect.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess this is the first time I\u2019ll have said this, and maybe it\u2019s good [timing] because the year is concluding, but we will have new music next year,\u201d he confirms. Well, can\u2019t get much more straightforward than that \u2014 stay tuned for more seismic blackgaze from Deafheaven in 2026.<\/p>\n

The news may come as slightly surprising for longtime fans, as Deafheaven have traditionally taken their time between releases, and their latest, Lonely People with Power<\/a>, only dropped in March of this year. For reference, it was roughly four years between that project and its predecessor,\u00a0Infinite Granite<\/a>. Prior to that, gaps between albums lasted between two and three years.<\/p>\n

Of course, it\u2019s still unclear if the \u201cnew music\u201d will take the form of another full-length LP or a smaller-scale release. But, hey, no harm in hoping for another album!<\/p>\n

In addition to teasing new music, Clarke shared that Deafheaven are planning on touring extensively throughout 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I wanna do is just keep my head down and tour, to have good shows and meet cool people and go to cool places. It\u2019s the same thing as it was from day one,\u201d he tells Consequence. \u201cWe will be touring a lot. So, we\u2019re gonna be very, very busy. It will be busier than this year, which is a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of now, the band has only announced a handful of dates throughout Europe, plus a stop at next year\u2019s Sick New World<\/a> festival in Texas (get tickets here<\/a>). Presumably, Clarke\u2019s comments hint they\u2019ll be adding concerts in North America at some point in the near future.<\/p>\n
