For Kelly, it came after a difficult period personally, but after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/2025\/jul\/02\/chloe-kelly-signs-arsenal-permanent-deal\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">leaving Manchester City for Arsenal<\/a> within months she was a European champion and Champions League winner. Hampton\u2019s heroics led to the Chelsea player lifting the Yashin Trophy for the world\u2019s best female goalkeeper at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/2025\/sep\/22\/ousmane-dembele-aitana-bonmati-ballon-dor-awards-football\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ballon d\u2019Or awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Norris, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2025\/dec\/08\/lando-norris-relives-abu-dhabi-party-grand-prix-f1-world-champion-mclaren\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">newly crowned<\/a> Formula One world champion, has driven his way on to the list b edging out Red Bull\u2019s Max Verstappen and his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, to become the 11th Briton to take the title in one of the tightest finishes to an F1 season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Aged 17, Littler started the year by becoming the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2025\/jan\/03\/luke-littler-thrashes-michael-van-gerwen-to-claim-historic-world-title\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">youngest world champion in darts history<\/a> and went on to become only the fifth player ever to complete the PDC Triple Crown with the world championship, Premier League and Matchplay titles, rising to No 1 in the rankings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">McIlroy, 36, has enjoyed two great victories in 2025. At the Masters, he emerged from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2025\/apr\/14\/rory-mcilroy-secures-career-grand-slam-after-dramatic-masters-playoff-win-over-justin-rose#:~:text=McIlroy%20joins%20Gene%20Sarazen%2C%20Ben,Photograph:%20Richard%20Heathcote\/Getty%20Images\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a dramatic playoff against Justin Rose<\/a> to become only the sixth man to complete a grand slam of golf\u2019s four majors. Then at the Ryder Cup he contributed 3\u00bd points to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2025\/sep\/28\/lowry-sinks-putt-that-retains-ryder-cup-for-europe-as-they-hold-off-us-comeback\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Europe\u2019s dramatic victory over the USA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Kildunne scored five tries as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2025\/sep\/28\/exciting-attack-clear-culture-and-a-new-captain-how-england-won-rugby-world-cup\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">England won the Women\u2019s Rugby World Cup<\/a> this summer.
