Sir Chris Hoy has broken his leg in cycling accident which he described as the \u201cworst crash I ever had\u201d. <\/p>\n
The six-time Olympic gold-winning cyclist, who announced in 2024 that he had terminal prostate cancer, is on crutches and \u201chobbling about\u201d. <\/p>\n
Speaking to Sky Sports, Hoy, 49, revealed he was not \u201cdoing so well\u201d in the aftermath of the crash but was now beginning to recover. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve smashed my leg up on the mountain bike. That\u2019s the worst thing that\u2019s happened recently,\u201d he said. \u201cYou just don\u2019t bounce like you do when you\u2019re younger.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a big one. I\u2019m doing better now, I\u2019m still on crutches, hobbling about.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorse things happen. I\u2019ve been riding bikes for 43 years<\/a> and it\u2019s the worst crash I\u2019ve ever had. I\u2019m pretty lucky that\u2019s the worst one I\u2019ve had in all those years of riding.\u201d<\/p>\n Hoy was speaking to Sky Sports as part of his involvement with the charity Prostate Cancer UK. At the World Darts Championship, which begins on Thursday, the sponsors, Paddy Power, will donate \u00a31,000 to the charity for every 180 scored. <\/p>\n \u2022 Sir Chris Hoy: I\u2019m busy proving that life doesn\u2019t stop<\/a><\/p>\n Hoy said he hopes to be back on stage at Alexandra Palace to present the trophy to the winner, as he did last year to Luke Littler. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve just had an unfortunate spill and it\u2019s the way the cookie crumbles. I\u2019m doing all right now. I wasn\u2019t doing so well in the immediate aftermath of it, but looking forward to Christmas,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n \u201cYou can trip walking up steps to your front door and hurt yourself. The point is I\u2019m not a massive risk-taker, but I want to live my life and I want to make the most of it.
