iOS 26.1 recently introduced a big change<\/a> for how you turn off alarms and timers, replacing the \u2018Stop\u2019 button with a new \u2018Slide to stop\u2019 action. Here\u2019s how to get the button back.<\/p>\n Apple lets you replace \u2018Slide to stop\u2019 gesture in iOS 26.1 with old \u2018Stop\u2019 button for alarms and timers<\/p>\n When iOS 26 debuted, it overhauled the design for alarms and timers on your Lock Screen. \u2018Stop\u2019 and \u2018Snooze\u2019 buttons got huge, thus making them easier to tap.<\/p>\n One unintended consequence of the change, however, is that some users found themselves dismissing alarms by accident.<\/p>\n iOS 26.1 has the solution: a new \u2018Slide to stop\u2019 gesture that replaces the previous \u2018Stop\u2019 button.<\/p>\n Essentially, it now takes a little more intentionality to dismiss an alarm or timer.<\/p>\n Apple is using the classic slider design that debuted on the very first iPhone for unlocking the device. It was also previously used for answering phone calls.<\/p>\n Overall, I\u2019m a fan of the new slider for alarms and timers. But I understand how it might annoy some users who just want a button.<\/p>\n Fortunately, Apple understands too, and has provided an optional setting to get the \u2018Stop\u2019 button back.<\/p>\n In iOS 26.1, you can go to Settings \u21fe Accessibility \u21fe Touch to reverse the change.<\/p>\n There\u2019s a new setting, \u2018Prefer Single-Touch Actions,\u2019 that will disable the new slider for alarms and timers and bring the single-tap \u2018Stop\u2019 button back instead.<\/p>\n This option joins several other optional new settings<\/a> in iOS 26.1 for customizing your iPhone.<\/p>\n What do you think of the slider for alarms in iOS 26.1, and do you plan to revert to the \u2018Stop\u2019 button?
