{"id":310906,"date":"2025-12-11T23:09:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T23:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/310906\/"},"modified":"2025-12-11T23:09:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T23:09:08","slug":"former-tennis-prodigy-handed-20-year-ban-and-ordered-to-pay-114k-over-match-fixing-scandal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/310906\/","title":{"rendered":"Former tennis prodigy handed 20-year ban and ordered to pay $114k over match fixing scandal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Quentin Folliot has been banned from tennis for 20 years following multiple breaches of anti-corruption rules.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman was at the heart of an International Tennis Integrity Association [ITIA] <a aria-label=\"investigation into match fixing (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itia.tennis\/news\/sanctions\/french-tennis-player-quentin-folliot-suspended-for-20-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">investigation into match fixing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Quentin Folliot.\" height=\"540\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"YouTube\/Tennis Stars\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/www-youtube-com-watch-v-1045042870.jpg\" data-caption=\"Folliot has been handed a 20-year tennis ban for match fixing\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/www-youtube-com-watch-v-1045042870.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<p>Folliot has been handed a 20-year tennis ban for match fixingCredit: YouTube\/Tennis Stars<\/p>\n<p>Folliot was central to a network of players who operated on behalf of a match fixing syndicate.<\/p>\n<p>He has followed Jaimee Floyd-Angele, Paul Valsecchi, Luc Fomba, Lucas Bouquet and Enzo Rimoli as one of six players to be sanctioned.<\/p>\n<p>Folliot denied 30 charges related to 11 matches played between 2022 and 2024, eight of which he competed in.<\/p>\n<p>These included contriving the outcome of matches, receiving money to not give best efforts for betting purposes, and offering money to other players to fix matches.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE ON TENNIS<\/p>\n<p>Provision of inside information, conspiracy to corrupt, failure to co-operate with an ITIA investigation and destruction of evidence were other charges.<\/p>\n<p>Amani Khalifa, an independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer [AHO] upheld 27 of the charges in relation to ten of the 11 matches.<\/p>\n<p>The other three charges, which related to a doubles match played in January 2024, were dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside his lengthy <a href=\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/tennis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tennis<\/a> ban, the ITIA say Folliot has been fined $70,000 [\u00a352,217] for his breaches.<\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old must also repay corrupt payments that are in excess of $44,000 [\u00a332,822].<\/p>\n<p>Khalifa said he was &#8216;a vector for a wider criminal syndicate, actively recruiting other players and attempting to embed corruption more deeply into the professional tours&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Tennis balls.\" height=\"645\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"Getty\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/detailed-view-ball-kid-holding-915409916.jpg\" data-caption=\"Folliot has also been slapped with a huge fine\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/detailed-view-ball-kid-holding-915409916.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<p>Folliot has also been slapped with a huge fineCredit: GettyFolliot&#8217;s tennis career<\/p>\n<p>The Paris-born player reached a career-high world singles ranking of 488 in 2022 and did not fully play on the ATP Tour.<\/p>\n<p>Folliot earned $60,047 [\u00a344,809] in prize money across all his singles and doubles matches.<\/p>\n<p>He made his first appearance on the International Tennis Federation circuit in March 2015 at the France F6 Futures tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Folliot last played in March 2024 when he reached the semi-finals in Maceio, Brazil and lost to eventual runner-up Mateus Alves.<\/p>\n<p>He did not make any appearances in Grand Slam tournaments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Quentin Folliot has been banned from tennis for 20 years following multiple breaches of anti-corruption rules.
