After being delayed several months by the writers\u2019 strike and the actors\u2019 strike, season 5 of the hit\u00a0Netflix<\/a>\u00a0series\u00a0Stranger Things\u00a0(which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of 2024 with a twelve-month shooting schedule, wrapping at the end of December.\u00a0Stranger Things\u00a0season 5 is now being released in three parts, with volume one\u00a0dropping on\u00a0November 26, 2025,\u00a0volume two coming along on\u00a0Christmas Day, 2025,\u00a0and the series finale on\u00a0New Year\u2019s Eve, with each volume being released at 8pm Eastern time. Cast and Synopsis<\/p>\n

Stranger Things\u00a0has the following synopsis:\u00a0A love letter to the \u201880s classic genre films that captivated a generation,\u00a0Stranger Things\u00a0is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events. Beneath the surface of their ordinary town lurks an extraordinary supernatural mystery, along with top-secret government experiments and a dangerous gateway that connects our world to a powerful yet sinister realm. Friendships will be tested and lives will be altered as what they discover will change Hawkins and possibly the world \u2014 forever.\u00a0Here\u2019s what we can expect from season 5:\u00a0The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished \u2014 his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will\u2019s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming \u2014 and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they\u2019ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they\u2019ll need everyone \u2014 the full party \u2014 standing together, one last time.<\/p>\n

The cast includes Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair), Brett Gelman (Murray), Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), Amybeth McNulty (Vickie), Nell Fisher (Holly Wheeler), Jake Connelly (Derek Turnbow), Alex Breaux (Lt. Akers), and Linda Hamilton (Dr. Kay). New to the cast for\u00a0Stranger Things\u00a0season 5 are\u00a0Linda Hamilton<\/a>\u00a0(The Terminator), Nell Fisher (Evil Dead Rise), newcomer Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux (Joe Pickett).<\/p>\n

Dark, Scary Emotional<\/p>\n

Stranger Things\u00a0is produced by Monkey Massacre Productions and 21 Laps Entertainment. Series creators The Duffer Brothers serve as executive producers alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps Entertainment, Iain Paterson, and Curtis Gwinn.\u00a0The Shawshank Redemption\u00a0director Frank Darabont ended\u00a0an 11-year break<\/a>\u00a0from directing to take the helm of two episodes of this final season.<\/p>\n

The first episode Darabont directed was the third episode of the season, an episode that was originally meant to be directed by Dan Trachtenberg<\/a>, but he got sidetracked by Predator: Badlands. Darabont returns to the helm for the fifth episode \u2013 and here\u2019s what Ross Duffer had to say about episodes 5, 6, and 7 of season 5: <\/p>\n

Chapters Five, Six and Seven: locked, mixed, scored, colored\u2026 Volume Two is DONE.<\/p>\n

\u201cShock Jock\u201d picks up moments after the end of \u201cSorcerer\u201d. Frank Darabont is back, but he flexes very different muscles on this one than he did on \u201cTurnbow Trap\u201d\u2014 it\u2019s far darker, and far scarier.<\/p>\n

\u201cEscape from Camazotz\u201d is Shawn Levy\u2019s return to the director\u2019s chair. It\u2019s the biggest episode of the three\u2014 and the performances make us cry every time we watch it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bridge\u201d\u2026 we co-directed this one with Shawn. Don\u2019t want to say too much, but aside from the finale, it\u2019s probably the most emotional chapter of the season.
It\u2019s gonna be a long six day wait for the finale\u2026<\/p>\n
