He was a two-time heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medallist who will always be best known for a stunning second round knockout of the then-undefeated Joe Frazier in 1973.<\/p>\n<p>His first loss came a year later to Muhammad Ali in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/videos\/cjevjnejdg9o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the legendary Rumble in the Jungle. <\/a>He also shared the ring with the likes of Evander Holyfield, Gerry Cooney, Bert Cooper, Ron Lyle and Ken Norton and after what he referred to as a born again experience.<\/p>\n<p>He had time away from the ring only to return and get back to the top level despite his advancing years.
