Matt Smith has revealed that he has already completed his work on Star Wars: Starfighter as one of the film\u2019s villains<\/a>, a role which he had to get a haircut for.<\/p>\n

Speaking to This Morning<\/a> yesterday, Smith explained that he just wrapped work on his Star Wars film:<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI finished [Starfighter] yesterday [December 11] and I had to cut my hair for it\u2026 Star Wars, yeah, I finished that yesterday. Yeah, yeah, and that\u2019s why I have this daft haircut, with this funny little front bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film has not yet officially wrapped, but filming is expected to end soon. He was quiet about all other details about what his role involved, but he shared his overall enthusiasm for the movie:<\/p>\n

\u201c[Ryan Gosling]\u2019s in it, who\u2019s just fabulous. I think it\u2019s really exciting \u2013 it\u2019s directed by Shawn Levy, who did Stranger Things. He\u2019s fantastic. Yeah, I think it\u2019s got legs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith previously stated that all of his scenes would be shot in December<\/a>, and so it seems as though they all must have been filmed in the past week or two. This suggests that Smith\u2019s role likely isn\u2019t one with a lot of screentime, but one where he is most important to a specific section of the story. Fellow cast member Mia Goth<\/a> is also said to play an antagonist, and based on her level of involvement in the film<\/a>, it seems possible that she has more screentime of the two characters specificially described as antagonists.<\/p>\n

Star Wars: Starfighter will be released on May 28, 2027. Directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Deadpool & Wolverine) and written by frequent collaborator Jonathan Tropper (Warrior, The Adam Project), the spin-off film represents a story that is set five years after the end of the Skywalker Saga comprising the nine episodic entries in the film series. Its cast includes Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams.<\/p>\n
