One of the biggest selling points of the recent \u201cThe Conjuring: Last Rites\u201d was that the film was the final movie in the franchise.<\/p>\n

Not only did it mark the last outing for Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga\u2019s Ed and Lorraine Warren, but also seemed to put a bow on the overall \u2018The Conjuring Universe\u2019.<\/p>\n

That franchise has spanned multiple spin-offs, including three \u201cAnnabelle\u201d films, two \u201cThe Nun\u201d films, and the four main \u201cThe Conjuring\u201d films. Though not officially included, 2019\u2019s \u201cThe Curse of La Llorona\u201d is set in that universe too.<\/p>\n

Now, franchise producer Peter Safran tells EW<\/a> that the massive box-office success of \u2018Last Rites\u2019 \u2013 which made $494 million from a $55 million budget \u2013 has made the team seemingly reconsider as they think audiences remain invested in the series:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that Last Rites shows that there is a lot of fuel left in the tank. It was the end of that particular version of the story with Patrick and Vera and that version of The Conjuring. There\u2019s so much more to it that we haven\u2019t dug into.<\/p>\n

I think there\u2019s really exciting ways to go with both film and television, frankly. It would be incredibly satisfying. People have been on this journey with us for a dozen years now. I think they want more.<\/p>\n

The introduction, in a real way, of Judy and Tony, I think, people love. The feedback we got was they love those characters. So I think that there\u2019ll be more to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
