Florence Welch<\/a> has reflected on the \u201cterrifying\u201d experience of joining Taylor Swift<\/a> on stage at the \u2018Eras Tour\u2019 in Swift\u2019s new docuseries.<\/p>\n

The Florence + the Machine leader appears in Swift\u2019s new Disney+<\/a> six-part series<\/a>, Taylor Swift: The End\u00a0Of\u00a0An\u00a0Era<\/a>, which debuted with its first two episodes on Friday (December 12), with further instalments set to arrive in pairs on December 19 and 26.<\/p>\n

The show chronicles\u00a0Swift\u2019s\u00a0record-smashing\u00a0149-date tour, which launched in March 2023 and\u00a0concluded with a show in Vancouver last December<\/a>,\u00a0grossing over\u00a0$2billion\u00a0through ticket sales<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Welch is part of episode two, with footage of her preparing\u00a0to join Swift on stage for a surprise performance of \u2018Florida!!\u2019 in London<\/a>, during the tour\u2019s final night at Wembley Stadium in August 2024.<\/p>\n

The behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage shows Welch learning the choreography with Swift and her dancers, and using the stage lift for the first time. She also appears as a talking head discussing her reflections on the appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have performed on big stages, but I thought I\u2019d just run around because that\u2019s what I do at my own shows,\u201d Welch says in the documentary. \u201cWhen I got there, they were like, \u2018This is your choreography.\u2019 I was like, \u2018No, no, no, wait, you must be confused. I don\u2019t do this! I\u2019m gonna fuck this up!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

She went on to say: \u201cThe feeling of coming up for the first time in that lift, it was kind of like landing on Mars, \u2018cause I\u2019d never seen the stage lit up before.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like, you see this cultural moment from the outside, and I suddenly was inside of it,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt was wild, but it was really fun and completely terrifying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Welch also admitted that seeing Swift in this environment was confusing, saying: \u201cTaylor is my friend, and I know her as this very cosy person, and I came out of that lift and I was like, \u2018Oh my God, it\u2019s fucking Taylor Swift!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Welch recently spoke about the experience of joining Swift on stage, saying she \u201cdecided to make some changes\u201d<\/a> afterwards.<\/p>\n

Her comments came after she opened up about working with Swift on \u2018Florida!!!\u2019<\/a>, saying: \u201cI almost didn\u2019t think of the scale of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s the sort of bigness of [Taylor Swift the phenomenon], and then there\u2019s the Taylor I spend time with in the studio, who is just the sweetest and most down to earth,\u201d she explained. \u201cWe had such a fun time. And then when it came out I was like, \u2018Oh, shit!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Also released on Friday\u00a0was\u00a0Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour \u2013 The Final Show, a concert film made up of the entire \u2018Tortured Poets Department<\/a>\u2019 set from the final Vancouver show.<\/p>\n

In a three-star review of the series<\/a>,\u00a0NME\u00a0wrote: \u201cThere\u2019s\u00a0a great documentary to be made about\u00a0The Eras Tour, but\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0probably an\u00a0unofficial one exploring the unique sense of community it fostered among the singer\u2019s fanbase. \u201cIt\u2019s like Woodstock without the drugs,\u201d one commentator notes here, entirely without shade. For now, though,\u00a0The End Of An Era\u00a0is solid content for\u00a0Swifties\u00a0wanting to relive the tour\u2019s huge collective dopamine hit.\u201d<\/p>\n
