United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) has announced the retirement of four of its Executive Directors, effective January 1, 2026.<\/p>\n

The disclosure was made in a notice signed by Group Company Secretary, Bili Odum, and filed with the Nigerian Exchange on Friday.<\/p>\n

UBA\u00a0stated\u00a0that\u00a0the retirement\u00a0follows the completion of their tenure.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnited Bank for Africa Plc (\u2018UBA\u2019 or \u2018the Bank\u2019) hereby notifies the Nigerian Exchange Limited of the retirement of the following Executive Directors, effective January 1, 2026, following the completion of their tenure,\u201d\u00a0the company\u00a0stated.<\/p>\n

Directors\u00a0retiring\u00a0<\/p>\n

The retiring directors include:<\/p>\n

Mr. Muyiwa Akinyemi \u2013 Deputy Managing DirectorMrs. Abiola\u00a0Bawuah\u00a0\u2013 Executive DirectorMr. Alex Alozie \u2013 Executive DirectorMrs. Sola Yomi-Ajayi \u2013 Executive DirectorChairman\u2019s\u00a0tribute\u00a0<\/p>\n

Group\u00a0Chairman, Tony Elumelu, expressed gratitude for their years of service and contributions to the bank\u2019s growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the retiring Executive Directors for their years of dedicated service, steadfast commitment, and support to UBA. Each of them has made significant contributions to the growth and success of\u00a0UBA\u00a0Group. On behalf of the Board, I thank them for their service and commend their impact. New\u00a0appointments\u00a0effective January 2026\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the same notice, UBA announced the appointment of three new Executive Directors, subject to approval by the Central Bank of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Lamptey \u2013 Executive Director, Digital Banking\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lamptey brings over 25 years of multinational, cross-functional experience spanning retail and corporate banking, asset management, securities brokerage, pensions, insurance, and microfinance across more than 30 African countries.<\/p>\n

He is\u00a0an alumnus\u00a0of Harvard Business School, a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), and\u00a0holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.<\/p>\n

Tosin Adewuyi \u2013 Executive Director, Corporate Banking\u00a0<\/p>\n

Adewuyi has more than 25 years of experience across Sub-Saharan Africa, including 15 years in senior management roles in London and Lagos. He has\u00a0expertise\u00a0in structured trade finance, corporate and investment banking, debt capital markets, and correspondent banking.<\/p>\n

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA),\u00a0an alumnus\u00a0of Wharton Business School, and holds a BA (Hons) in Economics and Accounting from the University of Manchester.<\/p>\n

Chidi Okpala \u2013 Executive Director, UBA Nigeria\u00a0<\/p>\n

Okpala previously served as Executive Director for Payments, Group Integration, and Strategy at Heirs Holdings. He has over 20 years of banking experience and\u00a0expertise\u00a0in payments, financial services innovation, and corporate strategy.<\/p>\n

He holds a B.Sc. in Finance, an MBA in Banking and Finance, and an MSc in Leadership and Strategy from London Business School, where he is a Sloan Fellow.<\/p>\n

Chairman\u00a0welcomes\u00a0new\u00a0directors\u00a0<\/p>\n

Commenting on the appointments, Elumelu said:<\/p>\n
