\n Glentworth House in Pembroke Avenue, Hove, run by Whytecliffe Limited, was given the highest possible rating after a CQC inspection in October, marking a major improvement from its previous “requires improvement” verdict.\n<\/p>\n
\n Amy Jupp, CQC deputy director of operations in East Sussex, said: “When we inspected Glentworth House, we found exceptional leadership driving a culture of continuous improvement where people were genuinely at the heart of everything the service did.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Leaders had a clear vision based on helping people live life to the full, and staff were passionate about making this happen.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The registered manager empowered staff to develop their skills and ideas, which created a motivated team committed to delivering outstanding care.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The care home provides accommodation and nursing care for people with complex needs, including dementia.\n<\/p>\n
\n The CQC upgraded Glentworth House\u2019s ratings for well-led and effective services to outstanding.\n<\/p>\n
\n The ratings for caring, responsive and safe were all raised to good.\n<\/p>\n
\n Inspectors highlighted innovative practices, such as the home\u2019s involvement in a national research project on infections in care homes.\n<\/p>\n
\n This project reportedly led to significantly reduced infection rates and fewer falls among residents.\n<\/p>\n
\n The home has also developed specialist expertise in supporting people with Huntington’s disease.\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Jupp said: “They also supported people to achieve some remarkable outcomes, including helping someone celebrate a milestone birthday at a community clubbing event.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Staff knew people incredibly well and treated them as individuals with unique preferences and aspirations.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Relatives told inspectors they were confident that their loved ones were “safe, well cared for and living fulfilling lives.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Inspectors praised the standard of leadership, noting that the registered manager supported development in the wider care sector by advising other care home managers.\n<\/p>\n
\n Other strengths cited in the report included staff development and wellbeing, which contributed to low turnover and a consistent, knowledgeable team.\n<\/p>\n
\n Glentworth House will have the assessment published on the CQC website in the coming days.\n<\/p>\n
