(Image: Unsplash)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They humorously attached a photo showing a log in the water, similar in shape and size to the snout of a crocodile or alligator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Last week, the first spotter added: &#8220;Its snout, which was on the smaller size, was visible above the water, and it was drifting along with the unusual current, likely caused by the rain at the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;There\u2019s a chance it could have been something else, but we had a clear view,\u00a0and we were shocked, given that they don\u2019t have a natural habitat in the UK so it\u2019s bizarre to see them in the wild.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We did a bit of Googling and realised that there&#8217;s a crocodile zoo at Brize Norton, not too far away. Perhaps one of their residents broke free?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Previously, it was suggested that the &#8220;crocodile&#8221; may have escaped from the nearby Crocodiles of the World zoo in Burford Road in west Oxfordshire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordmail.co.uk\/news\/25692114.firefighters-issue-urgent-warning-tumble-dryers\/?ref=ed_recent\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Firefighters issue urgent warning about tumble dryers;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Firefighters issue urgent warning about tumble dryers<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This was dismissed by zoo founder Shaun Foggett, who said: \u201cWhilst we might be having a mild winter, UK temperatures are simply far too low for a crocodile to survive in a UK stream.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Crocodiles and alligators are found throughout the sub-tropical and tropical regions of the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;They need warm temperatures to regulate their body heat, which is why our crocodiles here at the zoo enjoy temperatures of at least 30\u00b0C all year round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Without this level of heat, crocodiles are unable to digest food, suffer organ failure, and eventually die.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;If people want to see crocodiles and alligators, whilst also keeping warm this winter, come to the UK\u2019s only crocodile zoo.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A second &#8220;crocodile&#8221; has been pictured &#8220;swimming&#8221; in a waterway in Oxford, it has been claimed.
