James Gunn<\/a> has shared an interesting insight regarding the villain, or villains, who will be featured in Man of Tomorrow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

DC Studios<\/a> and Warner Bros. Pictures<\/a>\u2019 Man of Tomorrow arrives in 2027. Serving as a follow-up to 2025\u2019s Superman<\/a>, the new movie is being directed by Gunn and will see David Corenswet<\/a> and Nicholas Hoult<\/a> reprise their respective roles as Clark Kent\/Superman and Lex Luthor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What did James Gunn say about Man of Tomorrow\u2019s villain?<\/p>\n

TheWrap<\/a> reported in November 2025 that the villain in the Man of Tomorrow DCU<\/a> movie will be Brainiac<\/a>, which has been highly speculated among fans. Gunn, however, has yet to confirm this, as he\u2019s largely avoided talking about the topic until now.<\/p>\n

While Gunn didn\u2019t flat-out say that Brainiac will be in Man of Tomorrow, he did confirm<\/a> that the movie will feature a villain that isn\u2019t Lex Luthor or General Zod<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This came after Gunn wrote a longer post discrediting rumors suggesting that David Bautista<\/a> might be the top choice<\/a> to play Brainiac in the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s forget a moment I\u2019ve never said Brainiac was in the movie,\u201d he wrote in that post<\/a>. \u201c I freaking love [Bautista] & I have many ideas for who he could play in the DCU. But he & I have never discussed a role in Man of Tomorrow, nor have we discussed it amongst ourselves at DC. In addition, truly, NONE of the names, from the six or seven I\u2019ve seen rumored for a role, have auditioned or been discussed at all. In general I\u2019m just letting the silly rumors go \u2013 and this is certainly not the silliest I\u2019ve heard recently \u2013 but Dave is a friend and that makes it more irritating. Btw I\u2019m not blaming the poster here \u2013 I imagine this is coming from other places.\u201d<\/p>\n
