{"id":318836,"date":"2025-12-16T10:18:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T10:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/318836\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T10:18:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T10:18:08","slug":"masks-introduced-to-cut-flu-spread-in-isle-of-man-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/318836\/","title":{"rendered":"Masks introduced to cut flu spread in Isle of Man hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Public Health Isle of Man has also urged those eligible for the flu vaccine to get it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">That included children, pregnant women, those with long-term health conditions, carers, those aged 65 and over and frontline health workers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Around 47% of eligible residents have taken the flu vaccine this year on the island, the body said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Director of Public Health, Dr Matt Tyrer, said: &#8220;As we head into the festive season, people are likely to mix more and travel to the UK to visit relatives. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We want to remind everyone to take simple steps to reduce the risk of catching flu or other respiratory illnesses&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He said people were reminded to practice good hand and respiratory hygiene, keeping their homes well ventilated or staying at home if they feel unwell with the flu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Symptoms of respiratory illnesses include a high temperature, coughs, sore throat, tiredness and muscle aches.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Public Health Isle of Man has also urged those eligible for the flu vaccine to get it.
