Kobbie Mainoo’s brother was selfish and attention-seeking with the provocative T-shirt he wore at Manchester United on Monday night.<\/p>\n

That’s the view of talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham after Jordan Mainoo-Hames had ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ written on his chest at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Mainoo has fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim and has not made a single start in the Premier League this season.<\/a><\/p>\n

talkSPORT understands that the midfielder wants to leave United<\/a> next month, but the club have no intention of selling him<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old came off the bench during the second half of their dramatic 4-4 draw with Bournemouth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

United<\/a> fans responded with a standing ovation, but a clear message from his half-brother Jordan has added a new twist to the situation.<\/p>\n

It’s a gesture that didn’t sit well with talkSPORT reporter Durham, who imagined how Sir Alex Ferguson would have responded.<\/p>\n

Reacting on Breakfast on Tuesday morning, he said: “The fans need to stop focussing on Kobbie Mainoo, especially his brother. <\/p>\n

“Can you imagine his brother doing that when Fergie was in charge? Fergie would have had Kobbie Mainoo out of the club by the next morning. <\/p>\n

“It was an utterly insane thing for him to do, it’s selfish for him to do that, the brother. It’s totally about him getting attention, it doesn’t help Kobbie Mainoo, it doesn’t help Manchester United.”<\/p>\n

What next for Mainoo?<\/p>\n

Head coach Amorim has been given plenty of questions on Mainoo and his future at United in recent weeks amid his lack of game time.<\/p>\n

He has played only 302 minutes of football and made just the one start across all competitions in the current campaign.<\/p>\n

Mainoo is one of the biggest prospects to have graduated from the academy at United, but Amorim surprisingly questioned its quality<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese name-checked Toby Collyer, Harry Amass and Chido Obi as three youngsters who he perceives to be struggling.<\/p>\n

Amorim also insisted that if he believes Mainoo is the right man to play, then he will select him in his team.<\/p>\n

However, with the January transfer window on the horizon, a move away appears to be the more likely outcome.<\/p>\n

Bayern Munich and Napoli are two clubs interested in Mainoo<\/a>, who does not believe he has a future at United under Amorim.<\/p>\n

United will allow him to leave on loan at best, but preferably not to another Premier League club.<\/p>\n
