{"id":319819,"date":"2025-12-16T22:30:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T22:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/319819\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T22:30:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T22:30:07","slug":"faw-statement-rhys-griffiths-faw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/319819\/","title":{"rendered":"FAW statement: Rhys Griffiths &#8211; FAW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/24-10-25_Penybont-v-Caernarfon-Town_09-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33077\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Penybont FC manager Rhys Griffiths has been charged with the\u00a0Disciplinary\u00a0Offence\u00a0as\u00a0set\u00a0out under FAW Rule 38.1.1 for breach of\u00a0the\u00a0FAW Social Media Regulations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following the JD Welsh Cup fixture between Penybont FC and Flint Town United FC on 13 December 2025, Mr Griffiths is alleged to have\u00a0made comments during a post-match interview which:<\/p>\n<p>Questioned the integrity of the match referee and\/or the Association; and\/or<\/p>\n<p>Were offensive, insulting, derogatory and\/or of a personal nature which was likely to cause offence; and\/or<\/p>\n<p>Implied bias of match officials; and\/or<\/p>\n<p>Brought the Association and\/or the game of Association Football under the jurisdiction of the Association into disrepute<\/p>\n<p>Having reviewed the red card incident that Mr Griffiths referred to in their post-match interview, the FAW\u2019s Elite Match Official\u2019s Manager confirmed the decision by match referee Iwan Griffith to show a red card to Penybont FC\u2019s Chris Venables was correct in accordance with the Laws of the Game. The challenge committed by Chris Venables was a stamping motion with speed and intensity, with the point of contact on the knee\/leg of the opponent.
