The new model will replace Gemini 2.5 Flash as the default inside the Gemini app, and it\u2019s headed to Google Search, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Its arrival comes one month after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/822977\/gemini-3-google-ai-model-launch\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the launch of Gemini 3 Pro<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/report\/827555\/google-gemini-3-is-winning-the-ai-race-for-now\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">showed advancements in reasoning<\/a>, coding, and its ability to process images, text, and videos simultaneously. Google says Gemini 3 Flash \u201cretains this foundation, combining Gemini 3\u2019s Pro-grade reasoning with Flash-level latency, efficiency and cost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Tulsee Doshi, Google DeepMind\u2019s senior director and head of product, tells The Verge that the jump to Gemini 3 Flash will be a \u201chuge upgrade\u201d for most users. \u201cWith Gemini 3 Flash\u2026 it\u2019ll be a faster turnaround from a latency perspective,\u201d Doshi says, adding that you\u2019ll also see \u201cmore detailed, nuanced answers\u201d when compared to Gemini 2.5 Flash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Gemini 3 Flash also outperforms the last-gen flagship, Gemini 2.5 Pro, while operating at a \u201cfraction of the cost,\u201d according to Google. As an example, the company says Gemini 3 Flash can generate a plan based on a series of videos and images in \u201cjust a few seconds.\u201d In addition to launching inside the Gemini app globally, Gemini 3 Flash is becoming the default model powering AI Mode in Google Search, which previously ran on 2.5 Flash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Google is bringing Gemini 3 Flash to developers as well.
