Susan Boyle<\/a> said she was \u201cflattered\u201d by Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet describing her as one of his five favourite Britons<\/a>. <\/p>\n The actor, in line for an Oscar nomination for his role in Marty Supreme<\/a>, compiled a list of five British stars he thought were the greats and included the Scottish singer. <\/p>\n \u201cShe dreamt bigger than any of us,\u201d he told BBC News, apparently referencing her rendition of the Les Mis\u00e9rables song \u201cI Dreamed a Dream\u201d on Britain\u2019s Got Talent<\/a>, which stunned judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan.<\/p>\n Responding to the praise, Boyle <\/a>wrote on social media that reading about it had been \u201cso incredibly touching\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThose early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me,\u201d she said on Instagram. \u201cWe all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don\u2019t we? We should all dream big!\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI wish you every success as you continue to dream your own dream,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThank you for your kindness and for remembering that moment so fondly.\u201d<\/p>\n After finishing as a runner-up on the ITV competition, Boyle, 64, landed a recording deal and released two albums that reached No 1 in the US. <\/p>\n In May this year, she shared a photo of herself in a recording studio<\/a>, marking a major development as the singer had suffered a stroke in April 2022<\/a> that left her unable to speak and sing properly.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Chalamet\u2019s list also included Lewis Hamilton, David and Victoria Beckham, and hip hop artist Fakemink.<\/p>\n The Wonka actor said the clip of Boyle singing \u201cI Dreamed a Dream\u201d, which went viral globally, \u201cwas like the advent of YouTube\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWho wasn\u2019t moved by that?\u201d he said. \u201cI remember that like it was yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n Chalamet, 29, would have been 14 at the time. <\/p>\n The actor will next appear on the big screen in Marty Supreme as professional table tennis player Marty Mauser<\/a>, who won the US men\u2019s singles championships in 1958 and 1960. In The Independent\u2019s five-star review, critic Clarisse Loughrey said<\/a> the movie cemented the Dune actor as \u201cone of our greatest talents\u201d.<\/p>\n The film is directed by Josh Safdie, who made Good Time (2017) and Uncut Gems (2019) with his brother Benny.<\/p>\n
