The new commercial radio station run by STV will officially launch on January 7, the broadcaster has announced.<\/p>\n

STV Radio says it will offer Scotland\u2019s favourite radio voices and music from the 80s, 90s and 2000s.<\/p>\n

Presenters Ewen Cameron and Cat Harvey will be the first on air when their breakfast show launches at 8am.<\/p>\n

STV has said the music station will mainly be aimed at 35 to 54-year-olds, and will be available on DAB and online.<\/p>\n

Weather presenter Sean Batty will also feature on the station, as will presenters Alan Edwards and Jane McCarry.<\/p>\n

Cat said: \u201cIt\u2019s been a little while since we left our old station and you won\u2019t believe the amount of stories I\u2019ve got banked up waiting to be told.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the thing I love most about our show \u2013 it\u2019s a place where we can be ourselves, with no airs or graces, and just have a laugh every morning with our incredible community of listeners.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ewen said: \u201cWe\u2019ve spent the last few months working away behind-the-scenes with our brilliant new team, building STV Radio from the ground up.<\/p>\n

Ewen and Cat at Breakfast will feature competitions, celebrity guests and live in-studio performances.<\/p>\n

Graham Bryce, managing director of audio at STV, said: \u201cThe countdown to the STV Radio launch is well and truly under way and we\u2019re delighted to unveil our full schedule today.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve assembled an enviable line-up of Scottish presenting talent, with some of the country\u2019s best-known and most-loved radio voices, as well as popular TV stars who I\u2019m looking forward to hearing make the transition to the airwaves.<\/p>\n

\u201cSTV Radio is made in Scotland for the people of Scotland, and the regional diversity of our line-up reflects our commitment to serving every corner of the country with our daily offering of great music, relatable chat and \u2013 most importantly \u2013 fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, regulator Ofcom said it proposes to accept STV\u2019s request to make changes to its television licence for the north and central Scotland.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster plans to have a new STV News At 6 programme from Glasgow, which will contain some dedicated content for viewers in the north.<\/p>\n

The National Union of Journalists has said these changes will be \u201cbad for journalism\u201d but the company has stressed news-gathering operations will continue on the ground in all its existing sites.<\/p>\n
