Coronation Street<\/a> star Vicky Myers has declared it an ‘honour’ as she has been sworn to secrecy on her upcoming role in the long-running show’s crossover with Emmerdale.<\/p>\n The actress, who plays DS Lisa Swain in the ITV soap, was one of the first stars announced for the special episode, named Corriedale, alongside Emmerdale star Danny Miller, who fans will know for playing Aaron Dingle.<\/p>\n The hour-long special will air on January 5 at 8pm on ITV<\/a> and ITVX to launch of the network’s new ‘soap power hour’ scheduling pattern for the two shows, which will air in half-hour instalments every weeknight.<\/p>\n As a way of marking the occasion, producers, scriptwriters and production teams from both of the shows have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire, but with the horror that unfolds linking them forever.<\/p>\n It was previously revealed that a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up would be at the centre of the drama, leaving the lives of those from the cobbles and the Dales at risk.<\/p>\n Speaking to the Manchester Evening News at the premiere of Corriedale<\/a> at The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025, on Tuesday (December 16), Vicky shared her reaction to being involved in what is set to be an historic TV event – which now has a 40-strong character cast list.<\/a><\/p>\n “It\u2019s safe to say that this is a history making, ground-breaking episode,” she told us. “It\u2019s a chance for a lot of storylines to come to their conclusion and for a lot of new storylines to startbranching out and involving different characters. I knew I was involved because we had a call with Kate [Brooks, Corrie producer] and we had that discussion which was absolutely incredible.<\/p>\n “So to think over the past couple of years [with her signing a regular contract in early 2024], I would never have said that was even a thing. So, it\u2019s an honour and a real privilege.”<\/p>\n Speaking alongside on-screen daughter Sydney Martin, the Betsy Swain actress shared of her involvement: “I was really shocked, I remember going up to the meeting like, \u2018Oh you want me init? Oh that\u2019s really kind!’ It\u2019s these two iconic shows with characters that have been here forso many years, so it\u2019s a massive privilege.<\/p>\n “I had a little bit of imposter syndrome, but I\u2019ve hadso much fun and we\u2019ve been so well looked after. So, yeah, it\u2019s been amazing. We just said it was like a big school trip, really. It\u2019s like we\u2019re two schools who get to come together!”<\/p>\n Vicky added: “I really missed it when we finished. It was great to be out there in the fresh air andthen you can see the stars because there\u2019s no light pollution and then just doing our thing. Itwas nice to be together, like we were at a festival and had a right good old time and then, obviously, we had to do some work!”<\/p>\n But Corrie fans have noted that Lisa’s role in the drama hasn’t been an obvious feature in any of the trailers released so far, with only her partner, Carla Connor, played by Alison King, feature.<\/p>\n When quizzed if she could give anything away, if Lisa were to make it to 2026, Vicky, who hails from Stockport, admitted: “I think after this episode airs, and after obviously you guys haven’t seen it, then we can probably speak a little bit more about it… But enjoy it. Enjoy the storytelling because that’s one thing that Emmerdale and Coronation Street do really well.
