\n\tLongtime Flaming Lips multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd appeared to reveal he\u2019s no longer part of the band after a tenure of more than 30 years.<\/p>\n
\n\tDrozd let the news slip on Threads yesterday (Dec. 17) after he posted about a new drum machine. In the replies, someone asked Drozd \u2014 who hasn\u2019t performed with the Flaming Lips<\/a> since last year \u2014 if he was \u201cofficially done\u201d with the band.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tDrozd replied: \u201cThey\u2019re done with me \u2014 but we\u2019re not talking about it. So yes, I\u2019m moving on. Just keep it to yourself for now. Ok?\u201d While Drozd quickly deleted the post, it was screen-grabbed and shared widely before it vanished.\u00a0(You can see it over at Stereogum<\/a>.)<\/p>\n \n\tSince the post, neither the Flaming Lips nor frontman\u00a0Wayne Coyne<\/a>\u00a0have made any comment about Drozd or his status in the band. A rep for the group declined to comment further.<\/p>\n \n\tDrozd appeared to acknowledge the goof on Threads<\/a> this morning, but without addressing his future (or lack thereof) in the Flaming Lips. \u201cWhat do you call it when a Gen Xer makes a Boomer mistake?\u201d he wrote. \u201cThat\u2019s what I did yesterday here on threads lol.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tDrozd appears to have played his last show<\/a> with the Flaming Lips on Oct. 12, 2024, as the band wrapped up their tour with Weezer at the Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California.
