The Beaver Inn in Appledore – a pub with more than four centuries of coastal history – has begun a new chapter this autumn, now under the stewardship of a local family.<\/p>\n

Jamie Rutland, who now runs the Beaver alongside his parents, says the decision to take it on came from a genuine affection for the building and the community that surrounds it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took over on the 3rd of September,\u201d he said. \u201cMy parents and I love the pub. We love the local community around it – and we love what it is and what it\u2019s about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rather than rebranding or reshaping the inn, Jamie says the vision is simply to build on the strengths already in place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea is to expand on what\u2019s here already,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe music, the atmosphere – what can we change, can we make it any better?\u201d<\/p>\n

That includes protecting one of its most beloved traditions: \u201cThe Marmalade Club, the famous Sunday music session, is still on every Sunday. That will definitely still be going.\u201d<\/p>\n

With winter approaching, the team is already preparing for the festive period and a busy run of events.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now we\u2019re getting ready for Christmas<\/a>,\u201d Jamie said. \u201cHopefully it\u2019ll be a good one.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pub is already leaning into the season, with decorations going up, winter menus being planned, and a run of music nights set to carry The Beaver through December.<\/p>\n

Drinkers will also be reassured that consistency – not change – remains the theme behind the bar.<\/p>\n

\u201cSame beers,\u201d he said. \u201cAt the moment we have Tribute and Proper Job. And we\u2019ve just got our own Beaver Ale with our own pump clip – that\u2019s been going well, very nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the kitchen, the specials continue to get attention. \u201cSee what specials we\u2019ve got on,\u201d Jamie said. \u201cThe mussels go down brilliantly at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
