Anthony Joshua had the perfect social media post following his knockout win against Jake Paul. <\/p>\n
The boxer posted a video of him downing Paul in the sixth round with the caption “Netflix and chill.”<\/p>\n
Friday’s loss was just the second of Paul’s young boxing career, the other coming against Tommy Fury in 2023. Joshua, meanwhile, improved to 29-4 with the KO and picked up his first win since March 2024. <\/p>\n
While some may have expected Paul to pull off an upset against Joshua, a former heavyweight champion, Joshua controlled most of the fight. Paul managed to go six rounds, but ESPN’s Andreas Hale<\/a> had Joshua winning every round leading up to the knockout. <\/p>\n Even if Joshua won every round, it’s still impressive to see Paul last that long, considering he weighed 26.8 pounds lighter than Joshua. <\/p>\n “Honestly, I’m not surprised. I just got tired to be honest,” Paul said<\/a> when asked if he was surprised about going six rounds. “There was just so much handling his weight. I think if I could of had better cardio, I think I could have kept it up and kept on fighting. But he did amazing, he hits really hard, and I just did my personal best.”<\/p>\n Paul revealed after the fight that the knockout punch from Joshua broke his jaw. <\/p>\n His promoters said that the injury could leave him out of commission for four to six weeks. <\/p>\n “A broken jaw is very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA. The recovery time is four to six weeks,” Most Valuable Promotions CEO Nakisa Bidarian\u00a0told reporters<\/a>\u00a0after the fight.<\/p>\n Beating Joshua would have been the biggest win of Paul’s career by far, but he ultimately wasn’t quite ready to hang with a former heavyweight champion.
