JOHN\u2019S, Antigua\u00a0\u2013 Cricket West Indies (CWI), in collaboration with the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), has completed a review of the proposed window for the Breakout T20 League in 2026. Given the increasingly congested international and domestic cricket calendar, coupled with preparations for the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup, it has been determined that the tournament cannot be staged in its originally planned window.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Breakout Trophy Carousel\" class=\"richtext-image left\" height=\"330\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/d7da62e4-097c-4baa-83a3-c62dc91af295.width-500.png\" width=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"4l50u\">Following the successful inaugural edition earlier this year, both CWI and CPL remain firmly committed to the Breakout T20 League, which is regarded as a key component of the region\u2019s player development pathway and a critical bridge to regional, franchise, and international cricket.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"7gpgh\">CWI Chief Executive Officer Chris Dehring emphasized that the league\u2019s primary purpose is player development, particularly the identification and nurturing of talent beyond traditional or highly visible pathways.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"hd5sa\">Dehring added that alignment across all levels of West Indies cricket is particularly critical during the current cycle, with multiple national squads active on the global stage.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"hd5sa\">CPL Chief Executive Officer Pete Russell echoed this commitment, highlighting the importance of ensuring the competition\u2019s long-term viability and developmental value.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"hd5sa\">Updates on the execution of the tournament will be communicated in due course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
